Rona Fitzgerald, 69, has published her first book of poetry, Aftermath: Poems of Repair and Renewal.

“This is a book of my poems written over a number of years documenting many of my experiences as a woman. The poems cover challenges like being tall and athletic as well as my experience of speaking out and having my voice heard. The poems also tell of repair and renewal – most of my renewal and growth came about through writing poetry and stories. I started writing in my mid-fifties. In the last fourteen years writing has been my joy as well as my lifeline. I am fortunate to be part of a group of poets called The Phoenix Poets who meet monthly to read and critique each others poems. The group is positive and life affirming.”
