Guest blogger for April

Barbara Mearns, aged 65

In primary school I dawdled on my walk home, gathering conkers or twirling sycamore seeds. I fed our garden birds and pestered sea anemones in rock pools. Attempts to find a wildlife career were thwarted until I met my husband, Rick, and together we wrote several books on early naturalists. Then, from 1997 until 2017, I was Editor and Administrator for the Christian conservation organisation A Rocha International and enjoyed producing newsletters and web stories, sometimes visiting our community projects overseas.

Now retired, Rick and I continue to record birds, butterflies, dragonflies and moths in South West Scotland where we have lived for 45 years.
